Letter from current ASPS President, Marie Dugan.
February 13, 2007
As your Board president, I can now say
that we have received votes from the majority of ASPS Board members asking
me to make an attempt to defeat this legislation. It seems that there
have been a lot of our group - membership, Board members and officers
who have decided that this is bad legislation, that will hurt the office of
State Land Surveyor and make it difficult to fill the position with someone
who is qualified.
I plan to attend the House Committee on State Agencies and Governmental
Affairs, tomorrow, Wednesday, February 14, 2007, at 10:00 am in Room 151 at
the State Capitol. Robert French and Lanny Beavers plan to attend with
me, along with Courtney Sheppard. I will be prepared to speak against
the bill.
We also suggest that our members contact their individual legislators and
members of the House Committee on State Agencies and Governmental Affairs
and express their opinions on this Bill.
Thank you for your input! It is very important for you to let us know your
opinions.
